Summer is upon us, and with that another season of #SeeingYellow! Similar to last year, this annual campaign will run throughout June, July, and August and will feature numerous ways for individuals and organizations to get involved!
Throughout #SeeingYellow, Allies show their support for #NotInMyCity’s work to end human trafficking and sexual exploitation by wearing and showcasing the colour yellow, selling #NotInMyCity merchandise, creating fundraising opportunities, and raising awareness through important discussion.
A few highlights from prior years include the Calgary Tower and Telus Spark lighting up yellow, pop-up merchandise stands across the city, golf tournament fundraisers, the sale of custom and collaborative #NotInMyCity items to raise funds, and Canada Day fireworks featuring #NotInMyCity.
This year, #SeeingYellow may look different, but we are grateful to our many Allies for their continued support. This includes the Women in Need Society, which will be offering a bonus yellow item in all June orders from Twice New by WINS, the online thrift box service launched by the nonprofit last year.
In addition, Nicole Buckton, the chocolatier behind Calgary-based Those Chocolates, will be donating 20% from all orders to #NotInMyCity this summer in honour of #SeeingYellow.
We are always looking for more individuals, businesses and organizations to champion #SeeingYellow and help put an end to human trafficking in Calgary and beyond. Please email Stephanie Potter at stephanie.buckspringfoundation@gmail.com if you would like more details or want to get involved.
