Golfers to take aim at human trafficking through 2021 Shaw Charity Classic

The annual Shaw Charity Classic is quickly approaching, but you don’t need to wait for the golfing to start to support #NotInMyCity as one of the official charity partners of the tournament’s nonprofit program, Shaw Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink.

Donations to Birdies for Kids are already being accepted now until August 31, 2023 through their online platform or by cheque. As a charitable partner, any donations made to our cause through the Shaw Charity Classic website will be matched by up to 50% using the foundation’s matching pool.

Giving Back to Youth through Golf

Founded by the Calgary-based philanthropists and business leaders known as “The Patron Group”, the Shaw Charity Classic aims to help the thousands of youth who call Alberta home.

Birdies for Kids , the nonprofit program operating under the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation, has raised more than $61 million for over 200 Alberta children and youth charities.

We are proud to be a part of this list, utilizing the donation to continue our important work of educating the public about sexual exploitation and human trafficking in an effort to eradicate these issues in our community and beyond.

Visit the tournament’s online donation platform, to make a contribution to #NotInMyCity today and the Shaw Charity Classic Foundation will match up to 50% using the foundation’s matching pool! The tournament is also covering 100% of administration fees meaning the entire amount of your donation will be directed to #NotInMyCity.

General admission tickets for the tournament are not available yet, but those interested in attending can visit the tournament website to sign up for their newsletter to stay in the loop when tickets go on sale.

 

Past winners of the Shaw Charity Classic include Wes Short Jr. in 2019, Scott Mccarron in 2018 and 2017, and Carlos Franco in 2016.

 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was unable to proceed in 2020, but organizers are working closely with provincial medical and government leaders to ensure the safety of players, staff, volunteers and spectators at this year’s event.
